World Cup Russia 2018 – The teams and players of ‘Group G’

Group G Briefing
Belgium
Qualified directly from the UEFA – ‘Group H’ winner
This will be Belgium’s 13th participation in the World Cup.
Their last appearance was in 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, where they were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Argentina.
Belgium is yet to win a major international trophy but has the talent to take on any of the World’s best footballing nations.
This will be a consecutive World Cup appearance for Belgium since 2002. The closest Belgium has come to a major international title is in the 1980 European Championship.

Panama
Qualified directly from the CONCACAF – 3rd place finish
This will be Panama’s FIFA World Cup debut. Panama is here to write the first lines of their World Cup story.

Tunisia
Qualified directly from the CAF – ‘Group A’ winner
This will be Tunisia’s 5th participation in the World Cup. Their last appearance was in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
Tunisia will be returning to the big stage after missing out on consecutive FIFA World Cups. They’ve historically ended their competition in the preliminary stage, and the objective will be to change that trend.

England
Qualified directly from the UEFA – ‘Group F’ winner
Winners in 1966
This will be England’s 15th participation in the World Cup. Their last appearance was in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The U-17 and U-20 teams have won the Youth FIFA World Cup, so it is now up to the senior team to follow up and make it a treble World Cup titles for the national team?
This will mark a sixth consecutive appearance for England in the World Cup.
For a nation that takes pride in ‘inventing’ the sport, England is lacking behind when it comes to the winning of major international competitions with the senior team. The only major title the English team has in their history is from the 1966 World Cup they hosted.
