Day 13

Date – June 26, 2018

Venue – Fisht Olympic Stadium

Goal scorers – (Peru) André Carrillo 18’ Paolo Guerrero 50”

Group C – Denmark vs France

Date – June 26, 2018

Goal Scorers – None

After 37 matches, we get the first 2018 World Cup match without goals.

France and Denmark gave us the first goalless match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Both teams didn’t need a win to advance from Group C, and it showed in their performance.

Group D – Iceland vs Croatia

Goal scorers – (Iceland) Gylfi Sigurdsson 76’(pen)

Goal scorers – (Croatia) Milan Badelj 53’ Ivan Perisic 90’

Croatia wins three consecutive World Cup matches to win Group D.

Croatia did Argentina a huge favor by keeping Iceland out for the majority of the first-half and getting the most of the three second-half goals scored in the match.

Group D – Nigeria vs Argentina

Date – June 26, 2018

Venue – Saint Petersburg

Goal scorers – (Nigeria) Victor Moses 51’ (pen)

Goal scorers – (Argentina) Lionel Messi 14’ Marcos Rojo 86’

Argentina escaped Group D despite a poor start.

Victor Moses scored from the spot to put Nigeria in position to advance from Group D  but Marcos Rojo rewarded Argentina’s attacking efforts with a late winning goal to help his side qualify for the knockout stage.

Lionel Messi scored his first goal of the 2018 FIFA World Cup to give Argentina the start they needed against Nigeria. With Croatia’s victory against Iceland, a draw was all that Nigeria needed to advance from Group D.
