A stalemate between Real Valladolid and Eibar kept the 2-point gap between the two sides.
Inaki Williams did his best to help Athletic Club get out of relegation threat.
Diego Godin scored the winning goal for Atletico Madrid to beat relegation-threatened Athletic Club after his team had trailed on two occasions during the match.

Barcelona is still leading the ‘traffic jam’ in the race to the league title despite the defeat.
Real Betis wins away against Barcelona for the first time since May 1998 to end Barcelona’s 42-match unbeaten run at the Camp Nou.
Lionel Messi scores two on his return to play after injury but FC Barcelona falls at home to Real Betis in a 7-goal fixture. Barcelona remains on top of the league standings as three teams sit a point behind them. A second yellow card of the match sent Rakitic off to see that Barcelona finish the match with a man down in the final 10 minutes of regulation time.
Sevilla came from a goal down to get a late winning goal to deny Espanyol a chance to finish the round level on points with Barcelona. Espanyol drops out of the top four as Sevilla becomes the closest team to the defending champions.
Real Madrid extending their winning streak in all competition to 4 matches after a ‘4-2’ away victory against Celta Vigo.
